Recently, Ms. Harris's class created some shelf talkers for the library. If you've never heard of shelf talkers, that's okay. You've probably seen them if you've ever walked into a book store. Shelf talkers are little signs created to promote a book. They often share some personal connection with the story in hopes of encouraging someone else to read the book too.
Think of it as a super-short book review designed to make people want to check the book out for themselves.
I showed students examples of shelf talkers so they could get an idea of what they should look like. Then I provided them with index cards and asked them to think about a book they would like to advertise. Once they decided on a book, they created their shelf talkers and taped them to the shelf near their chosen book.
Here are a few pictures of some of the shelf talkers we placed on the library shelves. Enjoy!
